Self Discovery on the way to Amityville

We decided to travel eastward towards the nefarious village of Amityville, Long Island. Our purpose was to investigate the house of the Lutz's, who at one point during the eighties had claimed to be in direct threat from the spirits that dwelt within their waterfront home.  I whole heartedly agreed. The original "Amityville Horror" was a good movie,, and if it was not true then what does that say about me? I couldn't let anyone tell me it was fake. It was time to prove myself right.  This would be easy.

We would follow the trail left before us by my Blackberry "Google Maps" application in hopes of understanding death, life, and the thrill of a G.P.S. enabled cell phone. Priorities still standing, our first mission was to refill my prescription and get a new haircut. Our trip would have us venture from the lush garden state of New Jersey, all the way to the green pastures of Long Island New York. Twenty dollars worth of gas and we were on our way. High on amphetamine salts and ready to fist fight any benevolent spirits that crossed the path of my Nissan, we made our way down the windy highways and bi-ways of Queens towards the Long Island border.

With great trepidation we entered the sleepy town of Amityville. A suburban village, much like one would expect of a haunted locale. Beautiful waterfront property, dashed symmetrically upon pleasant plots of well manicured sod... Terrifying.

A chill ran through my butthole as we decended down Ocean Avenue, My hands trembled as I fumbled with my Blackberry Curve 8330's QWERTY keyboard confirming one last time on my mobile java enabled browser, the adress where so much death had occured... So much browser lag...

We perused the avenue in vain until Kaitlyn, an established and retired child psychic had spotted the house in all of its gripping glory. It stood tall and freshly painted.  Painted by who we assumed were the previous owners, or perhaps ghosts..  maybe even zombies. The driveway donned a spectral Jeep, and after further investigation of the front windows we discovered a large plasma screen TV. What appeared to be a man watching a football game sat casualy on what appeared to be a sofa..  Madness... Who was this man and why was he here? Was he alive??

My blackberry was losing battery power from all the heavy blogging.  It was time to go home and recharge it  before a massive anxiety attack took place. The truth about Amityille we would never know...

Smoke'm if you got'em

LEGISLATORS AIM TO SNUFF OUT PENALTIES FOR POT USE

This conversation has been in the works for a long while but it looks like the argument is finally gaining traction in the mainstream.

Allen St. Pierre, spokesman for the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML), likened Frank's proposal -- co-sponsored by Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas -- to current laws dealing with alcohol consumption. Alcohol use is permitted, and the government focuses its law enforcement efforts on those who abuse alcohol or drive under its influence, he said.

"We do not arrest and jail responsible alcohol drinkers," he said.

There it is, plain and simple logic. Let's hope its heard this time.

Web Comics Aren't Funny

This is a gem I found called Angry Flower, get it he's in an oil bath and it needs gears because it's some obscure reference from some dumb video game.

LET CHELSEA DEAL WITH HER SISTER'S MURDERER!

In World of Warcraft druids kill animals for their pelts.  God the irony is just so funny.

Some people are really against Divx players!  What will you whacky Penny Arcade guys come up with next?

And the crown jewel of horrible web comics, XKCD.  I think it speaks for itself.

What should you learn from this?
1)  Don't write a webcomic, because it won't be funny.  Seriously, you're not the exception to this and you're not witty.
2)  Don't read webcomics; page hits only encourage these horrible wanna-be cartoonists.

The Culture of Debt

The American economic system of lending and credit has become the tool of predatory banks and various loan companies. Banks now advertise credit cards on campus with some reports of banks setting up shop in high school settings. Not one class in high school provides even the basic lessons of credit or the value of the dollar. The previous success of frugality in American history has been discarded in light of the self satisfying having of credit cards.

In one of the first speeches about the declining economy in the wake of 9/11, George Bush Jr. explained the way to keep the system going was to spend, spend, spend. In light of his financial policies and their subsequent consequences, we can clearly see the folly of this type of thinking.

Credit Card debt has risen to dizzying heights in the past years at a staggering 11 trillion dollars. The society has veered off course and has become gluttonous and hedonistic with a "why pay now when you can pay later" mindset. Some have become so swamped in debt that they will spend the rest of their lives paying it off and perhaps passing it on to their children.

Debt has become a cause of severe depression as people who did not understand the endless pit they were digging themselves into see no way out of their predicament. This crushing burden affects everyone as child after child is raised in a dysfunctional financial environment. No lessons are learned and the cycle continues.

Where is the needed education about this issue in our school systems? Has the financial system become so blind with the idea of profit that we will sacrifice those who were not educated like lambs to the slaughter? There is a desire to say at this point "Well its their own fault, let them sort it out." How can you say that? Teams of psychologists hired by advertising companies have made the need for their product so irresistible , people will lie, cheat, and even kill for the product.

I believe this is one of the greatest problems facing society today and if steps are not taken to mitigate this problem, it will be the straw that broke the camels back.

Iran and the Photoshop Fake Out

First image released by the media arm of the Iranian Government

Actual image, released today
In a world of the internet and photoshop, Iran has the gall to edit an image and submit it to the world as authentic. Of course every paper in the United States as well as news venues across the world showed the first image on the front page in all its copied glory.

Apparently the 4th missile failed on the ground. I'd also suggest that these rockets appear to be comparable to the Nazi V-2 rocket circa 1942.

So now that the rumors have been confirmed, how can we EVER trust these guys about ANYTHING. These people clearly just want to cause fear and pull media stunts to shake up the United States. They know that when they do military actions that Oil prices shoot up. They have got us where it hurts and they are clearly crazy as hell.

Stop Whining About Gas Prices

Everyone saw that the price of oil was going to go up. Decreased production, middle eastern terrorism, as well as growing demand from India and China. The fact that Joe America is crying because he decided to buy a Suburban 2500 does not mean the US government needs to bail this individual out. The American people are wantonly abusive of oil and just because they want those days where 'candy bars cost a nickel' does not mean the American economy should indulge those fantasies.

Both McCain and Obama have outlined a bail-out package of alleviating the price at the pump for Americans. Whether its the summer gas tax fiasco or a redistribution of taxes on ethanol subsidies, both are extremely stupid.

We live in a free market system and when the parameters of this system change, the market adjusts accordingly. This is what keeps markets competitive, prices relatively low, and encourages development of new technologies.

Now that oil is dancing over $150 a barrel, people are changing their patterns. Scrutiny is now paid to how necessary a trip is as well as the gas mileage of new vehicles purchased. Ethanol and other alternative energies are being explored. People are moving to urban areas where public transportation and centralized resources reduce fuel costs.

The market is shifting and changing to meet the new consumer who is paying attention to the cost of gas. Sure people are losing it over the rising costs of just about everything, but a bail out plan is just going to delay the change we need to reverse this decline.

Giving a drunkard an easier way to get alcohol does not help the man turn his life around. He either learns the hard facts of his abuse or perishes.

Bottom line, we need to buckle down and unite to solve this energy crisis. Not play politics and parade out a little cut in the rising fuel costs to make Suzy S.U.V. feel more secure.

SUPRISE! All Religions are One!

Tablet Ignites Messiah Debate
nytimes.com 7/5/08

A three foot tablet found near the Dead Sea in Jordan has been dated as existing prior to the birth of Jesus. In this tablet, scrolled in 87 lines of Hebrew, a messiah is described who died for sins and was resurrected after three days. This piece of evidence is going to shock the Christian world as we know it.

This tablet proves that the tenants of Christian faith actually owe their roots to the Jewish traditions occurring several decades before the first records of Jesus. Christianity can now provably be knocked off its high horse as the ultimate faith because it has clearly borrowed from others and thrown in a significant amount of shame/ guilt into the scenario.

I myself believe that all religions are rooted in the same tradition and that this evidence will be the first of many in support of this idea. All faiths have the same basic tenants yet we have divided ourselves in this absurd cosmic joke in order to explore separation from true source. Now we shall begin the voyage back... enjoy the ride :).
